At the end of June, Faith in Texas will declare this season a Freedom Summer - a time to call all people in our community to stand with us for freedom. Freedom from crushing debt, mass incarceration, deportation, and underfunded schools. Freedom from racism and dehumanization. We will engage with our community and our candidates for elected office to ensure that these values are at the center of this election season. Join us on June 22-24 for our Freedom Summer Launch, and use your voice for justice in 2018.
During the Freedom Summer Launch, you will have the opportunity to encounter your neighbors, power, and God as we explore together what it means to live within a beloved community. We will engage with systemic racism, classism, and our own stories. Then, we will learn and practice organizing tools that will allow us to build our power to confront injustice, hold elected officials accountable, promote our vision, and engage voters! We will conclude our time with a planning session to prepare our congregations and communities for Freedom Summer, a season of action to ensure the issues most important to us are at the center of public thought. Throughout, we will share our faith, break bread, and worship, including an interfaith worship service.
Faith in Texas is committed to ensuring this event is accessible to all people. It will be conducted in English and Spanish with translation. The full cost to attend is $150, but we have ticket levels at a variety of price points to ensure it is accessible, including full scholarships. Please contribute to the cost of the event as you are able. Please note that cancellations for a refund must be made on or before Friday, June 15.
